Hall, of Gisborne, have returned from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. Murdoch Smith, St. Stephen's Avenue, Parnell, has returned from a visit to Rotorua. Mrs. P. Tudhope, of Ponsonby, has returned from a holiday spent at the Hotel Titirangi. ♦ At the Hotel Titirangi are Mrs. Algie (Takapuna), Mrs. L. Osoki and Miss E. McGeebie (Auckland). Mrs R. J. Coates, Ranfurly Road, Epsom, who has been visiting Rotorua, will return to Auckland to-morrow. Mrs. A. E. Aslicroft, Ladies Mile, Remuera, is the guest of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. J. C. Aslicroft, of 'le Aroha. At the Grand Hotel are: —Mrs. J. Miller and the Misses D. and J. Miller (Rotorua), and Mrs. H. Loonians (Motutapu). Mrs. E. J. Riddiford, of Wellington, and Mrs. Earle Riddiford, of Masterton. will leave Auckland by the Rangitane for England. Mrs. V. Edgecumbe, who is the guest of Mrs. Sutton, of Mission Bay, will leave by the Rangitane for London, en route for Burma. Mrs. Walter Strang, who has been visiting the Chateau and Rotorua, returned to Auckland yesterday. Sho is at the Grand Hotel.

Miss Una Rose Dawson, of Stanley Bay, left with her sister, Mrs. A. C. Gardiner, by the Aorangi 011 a three months' holiday in America. Mrs. Charles Martvn, Mountain Road, Mount Albert, will leave by the Rangitane for England, where she will spend several months. Mrs. N. Carnarvon, of Mangapai, who has been visiting Tauranga, arrived in Auckland last night and will 'leave to-day 011 her return north. Mrs. J. E. Tulloch and Mrs. J. A. Tulloch, of Hokianga, have arrived in Auckland to farewell Miss Phyllis Robinson, who leaves by the Rangitane lor England. Mrs. R. A. Wright, of Oneroa, Waiheke, will leave by the Rangitane on a visit to England. While there she will visit her brother in Northampton and will later go to Wales. Mrs. E. Griffiths and Mrs*. E. Ahern, of Onetangi, Waiheke, will leave Auckland by the Monterey 011 May 15 for Sydney. There they will join the Ormonde on May 20 for London. At the Station Hotel are: —Airs. R. Tho first meeting of the Women's League of Helpers for 1936 was held in the Church Hall, Castor Bay, 011 Tuesday afternoon. Officers were elected and an interesting and instructive talk on " Poultry " was given by Air. W. Bell, of Brown's Bay. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Barnett and Lewis.

A large gathering of members and friends of the Aiount Eden branch of the W.C.T.U. met on Tuesday at the residence of Airs. Pickering. Songs by Mrs. Rattray and recitations by Airs. L. Clark were enjoyed. Miss Mather was the accompanist. Airs. J. Cook gave a short talk on the franchise in New Zealand. Tea was served.

There was a large attendance of members and friends at the fortnightly social and dance held in tho Higher Thought rooms. The stage had been attractively decorated with multi-col-oured chrysanthemums and palms. In the absence of Mr. and Airs. C. Dickens, Airs. J. Gates presided. Contributing to the programme with songs and duets were Afr. and Airs. Woolley. A hattrimining competition for gentlemen was won by Air. Reading and Air. Wallbank. The judges were Mrs. Gates, Airs. Canty and Aliss Green. Dance competitions were won by Mrs. Boyd, Aliss Wallace and Air. Sutherland, and Mr. and Airs. Woolley. Supper hostesses were Mrs. Green, Airs. Hubbert and Airs. Deverick.
