TRAFFIC PROBLEMS
NEGOTIATION OF CORNERS RAISED DOMES CRITICISED The view that the difficulty of negotiating traffic domes at street intersections was a contributory factor in motor accidents was advanced at the Papatoetoe Town Board meeting on Tuesday by Mr. W. A. Cairns. Commenting on the recent accidents at the Kolmar Road and East Tamaki Road intersections of the Great South Road, Mr. Cairns said the traffic domes of the "pancake" type were a menace to traffic. One motor vehicle had capsized through fouling one of these raised domes. The position of others at intersections made the negotiation of a turning difficult as drivers had to manoeuvre to get on to their proper side of the road. Mr. Cairns suggested that the board adopt lines of studs at corners in place of single domes. It was decided to refer the matter to the traffic inspector for a report.
