HIGH TAXI FARES
COMPLAINT AT DEVONPORT A protest against the taxicab fares charged in Devonport was made at a feeting of tho council last night. "Compared with fares charged in other parts of Auckland," said Mr. S. S. Green, "the rates for taxis in this district are extremely high. I have received numerous complaints which have been directed largely toward the minimum fare of 2s 6d charged by all the cabs." A committee was appointed to investigate the matter.
