WAGES OF FEMALES

REDUCTION OPPOSED NEW SOUTH WALES LABOUR SYDNEY, April 29 The recently-declared basic wage for New South Wales, involving a rise for men and a reduction for women employees, is to be submitted to the United Australia Party and the United Country Party for consideration. Similar action was taken by the Bavin Government, when a reduction fixed by the Court was not enforced. This undertaking was given by the acting-Premier, Mr. M. F. Bruxner, in the Assembly in response to a Labpur motion that a law should be passed to prevent the reduction of the basic wage of females and to enable the commission to declare a higher wage.
