LIFE-SAVING TROPHY

WORLD-WIDE COMPETITION WELLINGTON CENTRE'S SUCCESS [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday The William Henry Memorial Cup, the only trophy open for competition among branches of the Royal LifeSaving Society throughout the world, hqs been won for 1935 by the Wellington centre. This advice was received by the Dominion council of the society to-night. Leeds, Yorkshire, last year's winner, was second, and Taranaki centre ninth. The cup is awarded to the branch achieving the best results for life-sav-ing, as shown by the percentage increase in points in any one year over the average of the previous two years. The Wellington branch's increase was 45.1 per cent on the average for tho previous two years.
