FRENCH WAR SLOOP

SECOND VISIT TO AUCKLAND ARRIVAL NEXT MONTH The French war sloop Savorgnan de Brazza, which called at Auckland three years ago, will make her second visit to the port toward the end of next month, according to advice received by the Auckland Harbour Board. She is expected to arrive from Tonga on May 26, and will remain here for a week, going into dock for overhaul on May 27 and 28. Although no official arrangements have yet been made, the customary courtesies will be extended to the visitors by the civic and naval authorities. The Savorgnan de Brazza, which is stationed at Saigon, French IndoChina, is making her annual Pacific cruise. She is a vessel of 2000 tons with Diesel motorn and a speed of 15.5 knots, and has three guns of 138 millimetres and four of 37 millimetres, while she also carries a light hydroplane. Her crew consists of 14 officers and 120 men. The sloop is one of a class specially built for warmer climates.
