REFEREES' BADGES ATTENTION TO SCRUM RULES There was nti attendance of 55 members (it the first weekly meeting of the Auckland Rugby Referees' Association. Mr. A. A. Lucas presided. A vote of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Mr. C. F. Fowler. Oflicinl badges as past presidents of the New Zealand Ilugb.v Referees' Association were presented to Messrs. P. Mackio and P. E. Sutherland. In his reply Mr. Mackie traced the history of the formation of the association many years ago and gave many interesting sidelights. Mr. 11. Frost, president of the Auckland Rugby Union, reported on the annual meeting of tho New Zealand Rugby Union. He stressed the need for special attention being paid early in the season to the scrum rules, and notified that the old "kick-into-touch" rule would be played in all club and interprovincial matches during this season. Mr. A. A. Lucas reported on the annual meeting of tho New Zealand Rugby Referees Association held during Easter at New Plymouth. No radical changes in rules were to be introduced this season, most revisions being merely the incorporation of a previous executive decision in the printed rules.
