RETURNED SOLDIERS
GOOD YEAR AT PAEROA INTEREST IN ASSOCIATION The report presented at the annual meeting of the Paeroa-Hauraki Re- | turned Soldiers' Association stated that ' the membership had increased to 131 | financial and 34 unfinancial members, j The total revenue amounted to £lB7. A sum of £42 had been received from I the canteen fund and the whole amount j had been expended in relief for unem- ! ployed returned men. The year ended I with a credit balance of £46, which was £lB less than last year. The president, Mr. E. Edwards, expressed satisfaction at the improved position of the association and the disappearance of the apathy of returned men toward the organisation. He congratulated the secretary, Mr. J. H. Walmsley, on tho manner in which be had handled many pension cases The following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr. A. M. Samuel; president, Mr. E. Edwards; vice-presidents, Messrs. E. A. Mahoney, W. Mclnnes, J. H. Bartlett and 0. M. Samuel; secretary, Mr. J. H. Walmsley; treasurer, Mr. D. Vincent; assistant-secretary. Air. J. M. Craig; committee, Messrs. T. Lvnch and P. G. Pearce (Kerepeehi), S. H. Anderson (Kaihere), W. J. Matthews and W. A. Reid (Netherton), G. Masters, ,1. McCorquodale, * Hubbard, W. Forrest, sen., V. J. lnnes, E. W. Harris and the Rev. W G. H. Weadon (Paeroa); honorary auditor, Mr. C. N. O'Neill. C. Mitchell; vice-president, Mr. G. H. French; secretary, Mr. W. A. Knaggs; honorary treasurer Mr. C. M. Young; executive, Dr. S. H. Hay, Messrs. A. Carnachan, F. Oldham, A. L. Willis, J. Brownlie, H G. Gribble, G. H. Weir, W. Bates, F. W. Doidge; auditor, Mr. L. C. Ryan. Thirty new members were accepted.
