CONVERSION OF CAR
INCIDENT IN THE CITY OFFENCE BY YOUNG MAN On a charge of converting a motorcar, valued at £45, to his own use George James Evans, aged 20, appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. Mr. Sullivan appeared for Evans, who pleaded guilty. Senior-Sergeant Flannagan said that the car had been removed from Hobson Street, and a constable had seen accused driv? it past the Devonport night launch landing and park it in Little Queen Street. Some damage to the car had been reported, but as yet the damage had not been assessed. Accused lived at Devonport and feared that he would miss the last launch home, so he took the car, said Mr. Sullivan. Until recently he had been in the country, and .he was prepared to leave town and again go back to employment in the country. At the request of the senior-sergeant accused was remanded for sentence until to-day, in order that an assessment could be made of the damage to the car.
