A FIRMING TENDENCY AUSTRALIAN GLASS*ADVANOE (Received April 27, 8.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 27 Although turnover was still on the restricted side there was a firming tendency in the investment market on the Sydney Stock Exchange to-day, particularly in the case of front rank issues. Australian Glass shares went ahead sharply and Dunlop-Penlriau met with further strong support. Broken Hill shares were steady to firm. BROKEN lIILL SOUTH FOURTH DIVIDEND DECLARED The directors of Broken Hill South, Limited, Melbourne, have declared a dividend of 2s 6d a share, payable on June 13. This is the fourth distribution for the current financial year, which ends on June 30. Two payments of Is 6d a share and Is a share as bonus were made in September and December of last year, while a further dividend of 2s Cd a share and a special jubilee bonus of 2s Cd a share were made in February. The corresponding payment last year was Is 6d a share and for the whole year 6s a share, or 30 per cent. Onions are unchanged at from 4s Gd to ns Gd a cwt.; with pickling onions at 7s Gd a cwt. A few cabbages are now offering at afc.it 7s Gd a bag. Seed potatoes sell from £9 to ±'lo a ton. Red Warren pumpkins are priced at 4s a cwt.; Crown pumpkins, 6s Gd a anvt.: carrots and parsnips, 4s a sugar bag: * root and swedeß, 3s Gd a sugar bag: French beans, 6s 6d a sugar bag; rhubarb, is a dozen bundles; cauliflower plants, 10a a 1000; and cabbage plants, 7s 6d a 1000.
