NORTH SHORE WATER

BOARD'S FINANCES SATISFACTORY REPORTS A sound financial position was shown in the annual report and balance-sheet of the North Shore Boroughs Water Board, presented at a meeting of the board yesterday by the secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. E. Wilson. There was a credit balance of £224, compared with £93 last year. " The report is an excellent one/' said the chairman, Mr. H. F. W. Meikle, Mayor of Devonport. A recommendation to continue the charge of id a thousand gallons was adopted. This was estimated to produce revenue amounting to £253 for the present year. In the estimated expenditure of £477 for the year, £2OO was allowed for treatment and cleaning of the lake and £77 for contingencies. Reports on the bacteriological and other periodical examinations of the water showed excellent results. Twentyseven tests had been made during the year by the medical officer of health. Dr. T. J. Hughes, and the Government analyst and all were very favourable.
