SAVINGS BANK PRESIDENT
MR. A. HARRIS APPOINTED The board of trustees of the Auckland Savings Bank, at the annual meeting yesterday, elected Mr. A. Harris president. Mr. Harris was member of Parliament for Waitemata from 1911 until 1935. The retiring president, Mr. E. A. Brown, was elected vice-president. Ho is relinquishing office after serving the usual two-year term. in referring to Mr. Brown's work as president. Mr. 0. Nicholson expressed appreciation on behalf of tho trustees of the manner in which Mr. Brown had carried out the duties of his office. The zeal that he had shown in the interests of tho bank was worthy of emulation and as an ex-president Mr. Nicholson said he considered Mr. Brown had proved to be one of the best presidents in the history of the bank. It was worthy of note "that the retiring president had never missed a board meeting since ho took his scat on tho board in 1918.
