THE ALBURY MURDER
YOUNG WOMAN'S DEATH REWARD FOR INFORMATION A reward of £SOO for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible for the murder of a young woman, whose partly burned body was found near Alburv, New South Wales, on September 1, 1934, is offered by the New South Wales police. Circulars announcing the reward, and also the fact that the Governor will be advised to extend a free pardon to an accomplice if he or she is the first to give the information, have been received by the police in Auckland. The circulars, which are dated March 13, state that the offer would remain in force for three months from that dato. Exhaustive inquiries by the Australian police have failed to establish the identity of the young woman. The body was found in a culvert on the Lowlong Road, about 4>} miles from Albury, on the morning of September 1, 1934. The head was severely battered and the lower part of the body burned. A detailed description of the hody and also of the pyjamas in which it was clad was circulated throughout Australia and New Zealand, and is repeated in the latest notices. It is believed that the woman was between 22 and 27 years of age and she was of slim to medium build.
