YOUNG MAN FROM AUCKLAND THREE MONTHS' IMPRISONMENT [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] "WELLINGTON, Monday Annoyed at what he described in Court as the lack of respect shown him in Wellington, a visitor from Auckland gave expression to his feelings by putting his boot through a couple of shop windows. Th<} man, Edward Joseph Barry, a labourer, aged 23, was brought before Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., to-day, and was charged with wilfully breaking a pane of plate-glass valued at £25, owned by Barbara Andrews, and with breaking another valued at £l2, owned by Aubrey Mark Cann. He pleaded guilty to both charges. Sub-Inspector C. E. Poach said that Barry had been observed by a constable standing in the doorway of a shop in Vivian Street. He was talking to himself. He took a few steps on to the pavement and shattered the window of the shop witli his boot. A few yards further down the street, he did the same to the window of a dressmaker's shop, the falling glass damaging some of the frocks. Barry then moved into a doorway and awaited developments. The constable approached Barry, but got no reply, and Barry set on him with hands and feet.

"That's a lie. He attacked me," interrupted accused from the dock. Sub-Inspector Roach _ said that accused was at first considered to be mental, but his bearing in Court indicated that he seemed to have his wits about him. Accused said that he.had come to Wellington on Friday. "I didn't like the disrespectful way the Wellington peoplo treated! me, and that's why I broke the windows," he said. "It was just the treatment that I received when I came to Wellington." "I don't like the look of this man. sub-inspector," said the magistrate. Barry was sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent. He was to be examined by tho prison authorities as to his mental condition.
