WHANGAPARAOA LECTURE
An interesting lecture on Abyssinia was given by Lieutenant-Colonel E. R. Sawer in the Whangaparaoa Hall to inaugurate the opening of the newlyformed Literary and Debating Society organised- by the library committee. The lecturo was followed by a debate entitled " Should women take part in public affairs?" The speakers tor the affirmative were Mr. Chaplin and Mrs. McGill, and for the negative Messrs. R. Garroway and E. Henry. A most enjoyable evening was spent and the winter's programme is being looked forward to with interest.
