BRIGADES CALLED OUT

CAR STRIKES POLE ESCAPE OF OCCUPANTS An accident on the Great South Road on Friday evening not only wrecked a motor-car, but resulted in the calling out of two fire brigades. The car, an old open model, was proceeding outward at about 6.15 p.m., and at the corner of Omahu Road crashed into a power pole. The impact set a fire alarm bos on the post in action and the Remuera and Great South Road fire brigades were called out, although there was, of course, i.j fire.

The occupants of the car,- two men, escaped with only minor injuries, but the car was extensively damaged, the radiator being wrapped round the polo so that the front wheels nearly met at the other side.
