Desmond Davis, of Auckland, has purchased from Mr. F. B. Donnelly, of Hastings, the two-vear-old full-brother to Flood Tide, of whom he is the owner. The juvenile is a chestnut gelding, and is to be named Rising Tide. He is not quite as tall as Flood Tide, but is considered to be just as good looking. Rising Tide will be trained at Takanini by 11. Miller, who left for Hastings last night to bring him to Auckland, THE KING'S STUD MOVED TO HAMPTON COURT [from our own correspondent] I , LONDON, April 4 Sandringham's famous Royal stud, formed in 1877, is to be closed and the King's brood mares transferred to the paddocks at Hampton Court. Here, the King will bo able to see the mares and the foals and yearlings more frequently than if they had remained at Sandringham. Another reason for the removal is that it was considered necessary to give the paddocks at Sandringham a long rest. There will be no change at the King's stud farm at Wolverton, Norfolk. The stallions, Friar Marcus and Limelight, will remain there. The Times recalls that tho Hampton Court stud was famous in turf history in Queen Victoria's days. Sainfoin, a Derby winner, and La Fleehe, one of •the most famous mares who ever raced, were bred there. Queen Victoria had little interest in horse-racing. Consequently, tho yearlings bred at this stud wore sold annually. John Porter, the Kingsclere trainer, was able to buy sainfoin on behalf of one of his patrons tor tho small sum of 550 guineas.
