MEETINGS IN COUNTRY HAURAKI PLAINS UNION CREDIT BALANCE FOR SEASON [FROM OTJR OWN CORRESPONDENT] THAMES, Sunday The annual general meeting of the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union was held in the Ncatea Hall, about 40 delegates and players attending. Mr. H. T. P. Evans presided. The statement of accounts disclosed a credit of £l3 7s 7d in the general account and £SO 4s 9d in the insurance account. The election of officers resulted:—Patron, Mr. H. Dent: president. Mr. E. A. Mahoney; secretary. Mr. G. Garry: management committee, the president and Messrs. Lyes, York, B. Hayward, E. Hanvood, H. P. Evans. Jones; hon. auditor, Mr. F. E. Hammond; delegates to Thames Valley Rugby Union, Messrs. Evans, Mahoney, Harwood. The opening of competition matches was fixed for May 9. The position of the clubs was reported to be still uncertain and tho Turua and Patetonga delegates were not in a position to eav whether they would be able to field a senior team. NEW CLUB AT KAINUI [from our own correspondent] TAUPIRI, Sunday A meeting was held at Kainui for the purpose of forming a football club, and it was decided to form a Rugby club and to enter a teum in the Taupiri sub-union's competition. The following officers were elected:— Patron. Mr. W. McDonald; president, Mr. A. J. Gibb: secretary. Mr. T. Jackways; delegates to Taupiri Union. Messrs. A. Gibb, N. Jackways; selector, Mr.. W. B. Cumming; management committee, Messrs. S. A. Carlte, R. Baucke, C. Hinton. G. H. Walter, J. Locke, G. Drinkwater; auditor, \V. B. Cumming. CADETS OLD BOYS' CLUB [from our own correspondent] TAURANGA. Sunday A satisfactory position was disclosed at the annual meeting of the Cadets Old Boys' Rugby Football Club the credit balance being £5. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr. Jt. 11. Phelnn; president, Mr. IT. S. Higgir: vice-presidonts. Messrs. R. 11. Hay. W. Paterson, W. Floyd, R. Hardy, W. McMaster, H. E. Olding, J. Baxter. W. Jury. K. J. Rcnnie. R. Packman: club captain. Mr. C. Davison: secretary, Mr. P. Sander: treasurer. Mr. G. Fletcher: management committee. Messrs. L. Green, C. Haua W. Manflel. B. Cullimore, C. Davison. W. Young. J. Duncan; delegates to Tauranga Rugby Union. Messrs. C. Davison, P. Sander Seventeen new members ioined the club and it was resolved to nominato both senior and junior teams in this year's competitions. It was recommended to tho Rugby Union that tho insurance scheme be on the same basis as last year THE HOKIANGA UNION [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Sunday A successful season was revealed at the annual meeting of the Hokianga Rugby Union held at Kohukohu. Mr. A. A. Porter presided over a large gathering of dolegntes. , , , The following officers were elected for tho ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. A. C. Yarborough; president, Mr. A. A. Potter; vicepresidents. Messrs. K. Newman. H. Gray, George Page, H. Stoddart, G. Kendall, L. S. Barrel 1; secretary, Mr. G. Harding; auditor. Mr C. llargraves; delegates to North Auckland Rugby Union, Messrs. G. Harding, <J. Julian. WHAKATANE UNION [by telegraph—own correspondent] OPOTIRI. Sunday A meeting of the management committee of the Whakatanj Rugby Union had to deal with the question of a remit by the Tc Puke Union regarding inter-unit matches for tho Hurunui-Apanui Sllielcl. Messrs. Boon and Stewart spoke in support of the motion, and the delegates were instructed to support the remit at the next Bay of Plenty Rugby Union meeting. It was decided that only one round be played in the senior competition and two in tho junior. !n support of confining tho senior competition to one round, the secretary pointed out the need for the matches lo conclude by 11 o end of June so as not to clash with tho Bracken Challenge Cup games and representative matches. He said that last year much trouble was caused with scheduled matches clashing with representative' fixtures. It was decided to endeavour to organise a sixth third grade team in the district.
