CHRISTCHURCH TRAMWAYS OPERATION OF NEW AWARD [BY TELEGRAPH rjtKPS ASSOCIATION'] CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday All members of tho traffic staff of the Christchurch Tramway Board who lost their jobs during tho strike in 1932 and who have remained out of the board's employment since that time will bo re-engaged on May 4. This date is the third anniversary of the strike. The new award, which conies into operation on May 4, removes the need for rationing and creates jobs for 17 men. Hours have been reduced from 96 a fortnight to 88, and the hourly rate of pay has been increased by 2d for conductors, and by ljd for motormen. The weekly wage remains unaltered owing to the shortening of hours.
