DARGAVILLE RAILWAY
REQUESTS FOR COMPLETION CONSIDERATION PROMISED [nv TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] DARGAVILLE. Sunday Following the nniiounreinent that the Government's railway policy included completion- of several main railway lines, a telegram was sent to the member for Kaipara, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, asking whether the Dargaville lino was included in the proposals. The following reply has been received from Mr. Coates: —
' On making inquiry from the Minister of Public Works it would seem advisable for those interested in the completion of the line to make representations to the Government supporting my own request for completion of the line." The Mayor, Mr. F. A. Jones, stated at the week-end that the memorandum authorised by tlio recent meeting of delegates in Dargaville had been prepared and was being forwarded immediately.
A letter from the Minister of Public Works, Hon. R. Semple, on the subject of the Dargavillo railway has been received by the Dargaville-Ara-pohue branch of the Farmers' Union. The Minister states that full consideration will bo given to the lino when the railway construction programme is being finalised.
