STRIKE AVERTED
LABOUR ON PACIFIC COAST NEW AGREEMENT SIGNED SAN FRANCISCO, April 22 The bitter labour struggle on the Pacific Coast which had been threatening was averted yesterday when a new agreement was signed between the unions and the employers settling the questions in dispute. Mr. Harry Bridges signed the agreement on behalf of his organisation. He agreed to end the boycott against handling so-called "hot" cargoes and to have unloading operations started again immediately. Mr. Justice M. C. Sloss, Federal arbitrator, will have jurisdiction over any further disputes which may arise.
