APPEAL TO WORLD

v ETHIOPIAN EMPRESS SALVATION OF COUNTRY ADDIS ABABA, April 22 The Empress Mcnen of Ethiopia, in a broadcast speech which Princess Tsahai interpreted, made an impassioned appeal to tho world's press to state Abyssinia's case. Her Majesty emphasised that there was still time for lovers of justice to end this most unjust war, and declared that she would remain with tho country and her people, who were in critical need, to the bitter end and fight against appalling odds. The Empress concluded: "France, whom we have chosen as a friend, presents the enemy with the possibility of seizing Addis Ababa by her refusal to allow further sanctions for which 1 appeal to her as an emblem of liberty and equality; to Britain as defender of freedom and justice for all races; and to the whole world to abandon the delay in saving my poor country."

PANIC DEPRECATED „ CIVILIANS IN CAPITAL BRITISH MINISTER'S VIEW ADDIS ABABA, April 22 Sir Sydney Barton, British Minister to Abyssinia, says a panic among the civilians in Addis Ababa is entirely unjustified. He advises British subjects to carry on their normal work. Britons, Indians and Arabs are behaving splendidly. The Abyssinians in the south, under the Turkish commander Wehib Pasha, are maintaining a stout resistance.
