Milk Bar in Cinema

While "The Milky Way" was being shown at the Carlton Cinema, London, Mr. T. Baxter, Chairman of the Milk Marketing Board, formally opened a milk bar in the cinema. This was the first to be installed in a cinema in England. Behind the new bar appropriately stands a life-size photograph from the film, showing the comedian vainly trying to hold 30 milk bottles. "It should not be long before many cinemas in the suburbs and provinces follow the example of the Carlton," said Mr. Baxter. " Milk bars prove both welcome and profitable in cinemas, which unlike theatres, have to function without licensed bars."
