LIGHTNING TRAINS
ONE HUNDRED MILES AN HOUR Light electric trains, travelling at an average speed of 100 miles an hour, and capable of reducing by a third the time now employed on ordinary journeys, will be running in Italy this year. These lightning trains (trenilampi) will stop only every 200 miles. Passengers will bo provided with newspapers, a free library, a typing office, and wireless and telephone cabins. A shower bath will bo provided free, and a scientific device will clear the air of the compartments every 10 seconds, whilo temperature can be regulated within wide limits in summer and winter. The first trains will run from Romo to Milan, Turin, and Venice. Ihe fares will be slightly above first class in ordinary trains. Only 150 passengers will be allowed on each train.
