PRISON ESCAPE DRAMA
Mr. Eugene Reiley, governor of South Dakota Penitentiary, United States, and a convict named Phil Ray, serving a thirty-year sentence for bank robbery, were fatally wounded in a gun battle between sheriffs and escaping convicts last month. Ray and a fellow-convict named Ilarold Carrier escaped from prison, taking the governor as hostage, after Carrier's brother, Claude, who was visiting the prison, had smuggled in two revolvers.
