BIRKENHEAD RATES
The chairman of the Finance Committee, Mr. A. Hadfield, reported to the Birkenhead Borough Council on Wednesday that rates totalling £9252 had been collected out of £11,217 struck. This was equivalent to 82.48 per cent of the current rates collected. The corresponding figure last year was 78.77 per cent. Of the £4369 consolidated rate arrears at April 1, 1935, the sum of £1522 had been collected, compared with £1450 in the previous year. The actual indebtedness at March 31 was £5064.
