SETTLERS SEEK RELIEF BAY OF PLENTY DISTRICT [nv TELECR APTT—'OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHAKATANE, Thursday The question of providing relief for the settlers of the white pine bush district, whose properties are frequently flooded as a result of the overflowing of the streams and drains in the area, has been taken up by Mr. 0. H. Burnett, M.P., who has advised that the earliest opportunity will be taken of placing the matter before the Minister of Lands Mr. Burnett stated that he felt the case would bo strengthened by proceeding bv way of a petition for a free grant of £SOOO. With that object in view a petition was being prepared for signature hv all residents atfected.
