ILLEGAL PEARL FISHING FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO ACT "CANBERRA, April 31 Referring to reports of the presence of 59 Japanese pearling schooners near Bathurst Island, the Minister oi Customs, Mr. T. White, said the Federal Government was determined to stop the illegal activities of Japanese craft within Australian waters. Pearling crews at Darwin state that the Japanese are working on a new and valuable find of shell. Japanese boats are being tendered by two big vessels capable of carrying 300 tons of cargo. Japanese diving boats unload their catch of shell daily into the big vessel so that if captured they will have practically no shell on board.
