STORM IN PACIFIC
TWO VESSELS DELAYED MAUNGANUI AND MAKURA [sv TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] WELLINGTON, Wednesday Heavy weather has been experienced by • vessels crossing the Pacific Ocean this week. The Union Steam Ship Company's liners Maunganui and Makura have both begn affected.. Tho Maunganui was due at Rarotonga on Saturday afternoon from Wellington, but the vessel did not arrive until Sunday morning, and then could not remain at the anchorage or handle cargo. The vessel has now been ordered to Papeete, where cargo for Earotonga will be unloaded and returned to Rarotonga by the Cape Horn, which is on its way from Vancouver to Auckland, via Cook Islands. The Makura arrived at Rarotonga on Monday, but was not able to anchor or work cargo, and is unlikely to arrive at Wellington before Tuesday.
