WORK ON ROADS
NEED AT PAPATOETOE The necessity for additional expenditure on roads in Papatoetoe was emphasised at the Papatoetoe Town Board meeting on Tuesday by the Works Committee chairman, Mr. K. H. iNolan. Mr. Nolan said the committee was (concerned over the state of the roads. "They are in a worse condition now than for many years," he added. The (committee was determined to press for Ib. full allocation for works when the estimates were being framed. It felt that the expenditure on reserves had Reached the maximum. The Works Committee would oppose any expenditure on reserves or similar schemes fcmtil it got an allocation that wotdd enable it to carry out a reasonable amount of road reconditioning. The chairman. Mr. W. ,T. Nicholson, Said that it was not the desire of any member to impede the Works Committee or to see the rates increased, uhe committee's vitjws would be kept before the board when framing estimates.
