Mr. H. C. McCoy returned from Wellington yesterday. Dr. W. C. Ring returned to Auckland by the Wanganella yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Tattersfield, of Auckland, returned from Sydney by the Wanganella yesterday morning. Mr. J. W. Clarke, Auckland district manager of the Government Tourist Bureau, returned from Wellington yesterday. Mr. R. L. Grant, general manager for New Zealand of British Empire Films, arrived from Wellington yesterday and is at the Grand Hotel. Captain R. C. Hammond, manager of tho Northern Steamship Company, returned from a business visit to Australia by the Wanganella' yesterday. Captain L. C. Gamage, and the Hon. Mrs. Gamage, who have been touring New Zealand, arrived in Auckland yesterday and are at* the Grand Hotel. Mr. J. A. C. Allum left by the limited express last evening to attend a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Federation at Wellington. Mr. W. H. Cadwallader. who hag been in charge of the Palmers ton North office of the Labour Department for the past four years, has been transferred on promotion to the Dunedin office. Mr. J. J. Kingston was re-elected chairman of the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board for the 18th year in succession at the annual meeting yesterday. Mr. A. G. Lur.n was re-elected deputychairman. Professor S. L. Presrott, head of the administrative side of the Santa Tomas and San Juan de Lctran Colleges. Manila, Philippines, arrived by the Wanganella yesterday on a short holiday visit. Mr. A. L. M. Perry, of the staff of Christchurch Boys' High SchooJ, who is at present on leave of absence in England, has been awarded a travelling scholarship by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Major H. McCormick, secretary and keeper of the records of the Duchy of Cornwall estates, arrived by the Wanganella yesterday for a short visit to New Zealand, accompanied by his wife. They are at the Grand Hotel. Major-Genera 1 D. S. Skelton, a member of the Royal Army Medical Corp3 stationed with , the Southern Command in Poona, Indip, arrived by the Wanganella yesterday, accompanied by Mra, Skelton. They are at the Grand Hotei/
