MONKS OF THE ST. BERNARD HOSPICE AND THEIR FAMOUS DOGS RESCUE MOUNTAINEERS IN DISTRESS St. Bernard dogs raced to the rescue when a party of climbers in the Alps was overwhelmed by an avalanche. Monks from the St. Bernar Hospice arrived soon afterwards and dug out those not already rescued. These photographs show some of the monks w.eldmg their shovels in the snow and one of the magnificent dogs trained to take aid to lost mountain travel!-
