SUDDEN WHIRLWIND
VISITATION AT TAURANGA SLIGHT DAMAGE CAUSED [bt telegraph—OWN correspondent) TAURANGA, Tuesday Accompanied by a roaring, rushing .. noise, a whirlwind of fairly severe intensity swept the north-east portion o the Camp last night, fortunately causing little damage to property, although » several branches were torn off trees m Miss Maxwell's property. The old mission station narrowly escaped, a large branch from a chestnut tree falling two or three feet short; of a double glass door. Several sheets of iron were lifted from a shed on another property, while tiles were raise off the roof of a house. Several residents report that t flo wind, which lasted but a minute, was of exceptional strength and 1 from the north-cast, accompanied by terrifying noise.
