DWELLING BURNED
OCCUPANTS' ESCAPE [by telegraph—own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Tuesday A firo destroyed the residence of Mr. J. T. Stephen, of Waikiekie, at about eleven o'clock on Saturday night. At the time a heavy storm was raging, and the occupants, four of whom were children, narrowly escaped in their night attire. When discovered the fire had a good hold and, the high wind fanning the flames, the building was quickly destroyed, together with the contents Tho insurances are with the New Zealand Insurance Company, Limited, £7OO on the building, and £IOO on the furniture.
