FORECAST AT NEW PLYMOUTH NO EXTENSION OF SYSTEM [by telegraph —own correspondent] NEW PLYMOUTH, Tuesday "Within 10 years it will be necessary for the cciincil to scrap the tramways and adopt some different mode of transport, such as trolley or Diesel buses," said Mr. P. E; Staiuton at a special meeting of the New Plymouth Borough Council to-day. The council decided against a proposal to duplicate a further section of tramway lines in Devon Street because of the congestion of traffic.
