WHANG ARE I CRUISING CLUB [from our own* correspondent] WHANG ARKI, Tuesday Conditions wore very boisterous on the Whantrarei harbour during: the week-end nnd the yachts competing in the Whnngarei Cruising Club's race for the Davis Trophy had a very trying time. Five boats started, but only one completed the course, which was from Kioreroa to the black beacon off One Tree Point and across to Manganese Point. The Muru, the only boat to finish, completed the course at 6 313 p.m. in n waterlogged condition. Off Limestone Island the Margaret's jib sheet carried away and she was soon out of control. She was unable to come about and wna blown aslioro, but wna pushed off and continued the race. At Manganese Point the jib sheet again gave way, and then the mainsail blew out. The Charm lowered her mainsail when it was realised she had no chance and ittired to Skull Creek.
