meeting at te awamutu [by telegraph —own correspondent] TE AWAMUTU. Tuesday The annual meeting of the Te Awamutu Municipal Band was held last evening, Mr. A. Brown presiding. The report stated that membership during the year averaged 35 to 40, while seven bovs were under tuition. Receipts for the year totalled £404 5s 7d, this being expended on instruments, uniforms, music, hall hire and incidentals, leaving a debit balance of 13s 3d. Oilicers were elected as follows: — Patron: Tho Mayor (Mr. G. Spinley); president. Mr. A. Brown; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs. G. B. Melrose and H. C. Rainey; secretary, Mr. J. Wilton; assistant secretary, Mr. R. Willis; treasurer, Mr. D. Bockett; conductor, Mr. R. H. Close; deputy-conductor, Mr. A. Nowsome; drum major, Mr. L. S. Armstrong; librarian, Mr. H. F. Dixon; bandsmen's representatives on finance committee, Messrs. L. S. Armstrong and J, Wilton. Mr. Armstrong, in reporting on tho South Auckland Band Association's contest, said that Te Awamutu had como second in the C grade contest.
NGARUAWAHIA SILVER BAND ANNUAL MEETING HELD [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] NGARUAWAHIA, Tuesday There was a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Ngaruawahia Silver Band. The balance-sheet showed a credit in all accounts. 1 The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, the Hon. W. Loe Martin; president, Mr. R. Eyre, Mayor of Ngaruawahia; vice-presidents, Messrs. R. Gibb, T. Collins, A. Stow, W. J. Hutt, Princess Te Puca Haerangi; chairman, Mr. J. G. Harrop; vice-chairman, Mr. J. S. Johnston; secretary, Mr. L. Downes; treasurer, Mr. H. B. Eraser; conductor, Mr. W. A. Forrest; deputy-conductor, Mr. W. Forrest; drum-major, Mr. E. Waters; sergeant, Mr. J. Lees; corporal, Mr. T. Adams; delegate, Mr. S. Kemp; and a general committee of seven members.
