TE AWAMUTU INTERESTS [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] ■TE AWAMUTU, Tuesday At the 12th annual meeting of the Te Awamutu Orphans' Club the president, Mr. J. B. Roberton, presided. The report stated that tho past year had on the whole been satisfactory. The innovation of "national" nights had proved a great success, Mr. S. Clark's cup being awarded by popular vote to the committee responsible for the "English" night. During the year visits were exchanged with Hamilton, Cambridge, Morrinsville and Matamata clubs and in addition Te Awamutu was well represented at the combined reunion at Cambridge. Membership had been maintained with a nominal roll of 93. The statement of finances showed a loss on the year's working of £5 6s Id. The following officers were elected: — Patron, Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P.; president, Mr. E. W. White; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs. D. Clark, G. Spinley and S. E. McDonald; secretary and treasurer, Mr. 11. Dalziell; chief steward, Mr. A. J. Tailby; assistant steward, Mr. C. W, Morey; auditor, Mr. J. L. Callaghan; programme ste.ward, Mr. F. Moody; orchestra conductor, Mr. G. N. Newton; official accompanists, Messrs, N. J. Winch and A. J. Sinclair; song leader, Mr. J. Oliphant; master of ceremonies, Mr. G. Bridge; committee, Messrs. C. W. Morey, J. B. Wilson, F. J. Petchell, C. S. Wood, T. Coupland, S. Clark and R. H. Westbrook. For the coming season it was decided to hold seven social evenings at threeweekly intervals instead of 10 evenings at fortnightly intervals as in previous years. The date of the opening night was 4eft to tho executive to arrange.
