PLEA FOR ALSATIANS
DEPUTATION'S CLAIMS COMMENT BY MINISTER [by telegraph—press association] WELLINGTON, Tuesday To protest against legislation restricting rights of ownership of Alsatian dogs a deputation from the National Alsatian Defence League yesterday waited on the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry. Members of the deputation said that Alsatians had been much maligned in New Zealand and to pass legislation aiming at tho extermination of tho breed was considered an unwarranted interference with the liberty of the subject. The Minister said his present feeling was that there were enough Alsatians in New Zealand for the time being. He believed there was mo consistency of temperament in the Alsatian. As far as the Government was concerned, nothing rash would be done, and anything contemplated would_ be viewed' from a common-sense point of view.
