SUBSIDY FOR DOCTOR
{HOKIANGA RIVER SETTLERS I; HOSPITAL EiOARD AGREES [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT ] RAWENE, Tuesday A resolution urging the Hokianga Hospital Board to subsidise the services of a medical officer, to be stationed on the north side of-the river, was carried recently at a public meeting at Broadwood. The resolution was discussed by the board last night and an agreemonfc -was reached to offer a subsidy to the extent of £2OO a year, subject to the approval of the Minister of Health. As matters stand there are over 1500 residents on the north side of the river who are inaccessible to a doctor except by negotiating the stream to Rawene. The decision of the board has met with general satisfaction.
