PILFERING ON YACHTS
POLICE PATROL URGED PROTECTION IN AUCKLAND [BY TELEGRAPH SPECIAL BEPOBTES] WELLINGTON, Tuesday The institution of a police patrol on the Waitemata during the yachting season was advocated in the House of Representatives to-day by Mr. TV. P. Endean (Opposition—Parnell), in notice of a question to the Minister of Marine, Hon. P. Eraser, and the Minister of Justice, Hon. H. G. R. Mason. Mr. Endean gave notice to ask whether the Minister would-cause steps to be taken whereby a water police patrol would be instituted on the Waitemata Harbour during the yachting season to prevent, if possible, pilfering on pleasure craft and to ensure the safety of yachts and launches. Thousands of pounds were invested in pleasure craft in Auckland, and also in gear and appurtenances, Mr. Endean added.
