TWILIGHT PHENOMENON
UNUSUAL SUNSET RAYS The clearing effect of a storm on the atmosphere was evident last evening when, about 6 o'clock a fine set of crepuscular rays were visible. Everyone is familiar with the sunset rays often seen radiating like wheel spokes from the sun. The crepuscular rays are these rays extending completely across the sky, converging at the point directly opposite the sun. They are very infrequently seen, and only in the clearest atmospheres. Last evening's phenomenon consisted of four rays, two branching to either side of the zenith and the others passing low in. the north and south. All wore of a delicate pink colour and, although v«ry prominent in the eastern and western skies, were only faintly traceable near the zenith.
