ARMISTICE SOON REPORT FROM ROME ITALIAN PROTECTORATE WHOLE OF ABYSSINIA By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received April 21. 1.15 a.m.) LONDON, April 20 The Morhing Post's Rome correspondent says it is believed that Italian emissaries are in direct contact with the spokesman of the Emperor of Abyssinia, and it is expected that an armistice will shortly be signed on the basis of an Italian protectorate over the whole of Abjssinia, after which a full political and military treaty will be made in Italy's favour. The British United Press correspondent at Rome says that the Abyssinian Crown Prince, Asfao Wasan, is on his way to Dessye, presumably to ascertain Italy s terms.
LEAGUE COUNCIL MEETS
REMAINING IN SESSION DEVELOPMENTS AWAITED (Received April 21, 1.15 a.m.) GENEVA, April 20 The League of Nations Council met in private at 10.40 a.m., Mr. Stanley Bruce presiding. The Council decided to remain in session to enable its reassembly should developments necessitate this course. It was also agreed that Abyssinia should automatically have the right to sit on the Council whenever the ItaloAbyssinian question was discussed. A public meeting opened at 11 a.m., Baron Aloisi sitting in Italy's customary place between M. Paul-Boncour and Senor Madariaga.
