CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING
TAKAPUNA GUN CLUB The Takapuna Gun Club held its monthly clay-bird shoot at Barry's Point under windy conditions. The principal event was the 10-bird club trophy match, which was won outright by I». J. Henderson, with the possible ofT 18yds. Details are as follows: — Seven-bird Eye-opener.—L. J. Henderson, 18yds, shot the possible and won outright. A. J. Hanigan, JOyds, was runner-up with six breaks, while M. D. Morgan, 11yds. and B. E. Butters 11yds. each shot five birds. Ten-bird Club Trophy Match.—L. J. Hen. derson. 18yds. won outright, with the possible ot 10 birds, A. J Hanigan, 17yds, was runner-up with nine birds, and J. Henderson, sen., 15yds, and M. D. Morgan, 12yds, each shot eight birds Seven-bird Gimcrack (two yards back each hit).—A. J. Hanigan. 14-28 yds, won outright with the possible. L. J. Henderson, 14-20 yds. shot six birds for second, while B. E. Butters. 11-21 yds. shot five birds. Seven-bird Gimcrack.—L. J. Henderson, 15-27 yds, and A. J. Hanigan, 15-27 yds, tied with the possible of seven birds. In the shoot-off Hanigan won on the 10th bird off the 33-yard mark, while J. Henderson, sen., shot five birds.
CAMBRIDGE SEASON ENDS [from our own correspondent] CAMBRIDGE, Monday The Cambridge Gun Club concluded a successful season on Saturday, when there was a large attendance at the shooting ground. With the weather showery and overcast conditions were difficult, but in spite of this there were several good performances. The main event was a nine-bird match for n silver cup, presented by Mrs. V. E. Ilickit, the winner being L. Maher. The club championship was won by R. .T. Crosbie, who secured the possible. Results were:— Eye-opener.—G. Bartlett, 16yds, and W. Wells, 15yds, tied for first place with the possible. Rickit 'Cup. nine-bird match.—W. Wells and R. Maher, 15yds, and L. Maher, 13yds. tied, with one miss each. In the shoot-off L. Maher was the winner. Novice Shoot, for Mr, F. McFarlane's trophy.—T. Neil, jun., and C. Cowan tied, each securing the possible. In the shoot-ofT T. Neil was the winner. Club Championship. 10-bird match for gold medal.—R. J. Crosbie. possible, 1; F. McFarlnne, one miss, 2, Gimcrack, six birds.—R. Maher, 14-24 yds, and W. Wells, lfi-24yda, tied, with the possible. Six-bird Sweepstake.—F. McFarlano. 15yds, and W, Wells, 15yds, shot the possible and divided the stake.
