PAPAKURA ORPHANS' CLUB
A substantial increase in membership and a very enjoyable past session was recorded at the annual meeting of the tapakura Orphans' Club. The vice-presi-dent, Air. H. E. McEntee, presided over a good attendance. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect for their late president, Mr. G. C. Hobson. The treasurer's statement showed a balance in hand of £6 2s 3d. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr. George Heald; vicepresidents, Messrs. H. E. McEntee, W. S. Mcllraith, Barnard, T. C. Seaton, S. D. Rice and T. C. Dunckley; committee, Messrs. B. Johnson, S. L. Anderson, W. McEntee and Dover Farrant; secretary, Mr. G. Wilson; treasurer, Mr. T. C. Dunckley; hon. ; pianist, Mr. T. C. Seaton; auditor, Mr. I a. C. Carpenter. The club will meet the third Thursday in* each month from May for five nights, including a ladies' evening.
