IMPROVEMENT AT PIAKO BETTER RATES COLLECTION [by telegraph OWN correspondent] TIS AROHA, Monday Evidence of increasing prosperity in rural districts is shown by the summary of rates collected during the past three years by the Piako County Council. At March 31 1934, the percentage of rates collected to rates struck was 58 per cent, in 1935 it rose to 69 per cent, while at to-day's meeting of the council the clerk reported that for the past year the total collected was 83 per cent. Donations of £5 itoward the endowment of the Wilson Home for Crippled Children and of £2 2s to the McGregor memorial fund were made by the council.
