POLICE NOT NOTIFIED
MOTOR PASSENGER'S INJURY COURT CONVICTS DRIVER The obligation upon drivers of motor-vehicles to notify the police of accidents concerhing passengers in their vehicles was emphasised in the Magistrate's Court at Otahuhu yesterday, when a truck driver, Benjamin Peter Martinson, appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Ho was charged with having failed to report an accident on September 20 and pleadc-d guilty. Sergeant J. Cahill said defendant was driving a truck owned by the Otahuhu Borough Council and a man named Brewin was being conveyed as a passenger. Brewin was thrown from the truck and suffered injuries necessitating- admission to hospital. Defendant did not report the accident. Defendant said he took the injured man to a doctor, but was not aware that'he should have reported tho matter to tho police. Tho magistrate said it was a responsibility of motorists to notify all such cases. In view of the circumstances defendant would bo convicted and ordered to pay costs, 12s.
