MILK BELOW STANDARD
WHANGAREI VENDOR FINED [bv telegraph—OWN correspondent! WHANGAREI, Monday A pica of guilty was entered in the Police Court to-day by William Henry Muir to a charge of selling milk on February 11 which failed to comply with the prescribed standard. Senior-Sergeant E. Finch said that C. D. Wykes, health inspector, obtained a sample of milk from accused and sent it to an analyst, who reported that it contained 14 per cent of added water. Mr. Trimmer, for defendant, said that Muir owned only a small round anil the milk resulting in the present charge was handled only by an employee and not seen by Muir, who had an excellent character. The magistrate, Mr. G. N. Morris, said it was some time since he had had a case of this description and Whangarei seemed to be satisfactory in this respect. A fine of £2 and costs was imposed.
