E. Ellis, Silver King led all the way to win the, A.J.C. Plate. Ellis took Silver Ring to the front immediately and, after opening up a gap of half a dozen lengths, ho allowed the gelding to race along on the bit. Six furlongs from home Ellis gave his mount a 'breather' for the run homo. This allowed Lough Neagh to draw almost level, but once heads were turned for home it was apparent Silver King still held command. Saturday The Hawke's Bay Jockey Club stewards held a meeting prior to the racing to-day and unanimously decided,"" in view of the great race for theHawke's Bay Cup a fortnight ago, when Big Dook and PJadie dead-heated (the same horses dead-heating quently at Wairarapa) to give cups of equal value to the cup originally offeree}-; with the. stake. The owners of Big Dook, and Pladie will therefore receive a cup;' each. The club's sporting action was greatly commended. ■ \
