WH ANGAREI ASSOCIATION [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Sunday In his annual report to be presented to the annual, meeting of the Whangarei Rural Schools' Football and Basketball Association, the president, Mr. J. H. Dennehy. states that organised games in bfisketball nnd football wero played at eight different centres, and teams from 40 schools, extending from Maromaku in the north to W<notira in the south, took part. Winning teams from the eight centres played off in Whangarei with the following results:—Football: Senior, Waiotira; bantam, Onerahi. Goal-kicking: Waiotira. Basketball: Senior. Runpekapeka; bantam, Glenbervie. Goal throwing: Ruapekapeka. The Warner Shield waß won by Ilorahora School. Results in the seven-a-sido competition wero:—Senior, High School B; junior, Horahora A; bantam, Whau Valley. " During the year," the report states, "the executive unanimously decided to cancel its affiliation with thi Whangarei Rugby Union. Wo were reluctant to tako this extreme step, which was brought about by the attempt of the North Auckland Rugby Union to interfere in the administration of school football in this district."
